Looking at the images on the front page, what do you think Henna is? Why do you think this?
i think that this story is about a girl getting tattooed.   
What do the words dramatic and decoration mean?
dramatic means your powerful. decoration is about if you are having a party you decorate your place with balloons.   
Why has Henna been used for hundreds of years in Somalia?
they’ve all used henna as body decoration.
Where is the Henna imported from, why do they not just purchase it in New Zealand?
because it is hard to get a high-quality product like the one being today.   
What does the Henna powder feel like? What substance has the writer compared Henna to?
the powder feels gritty, rather like sand,and asli’s mother Marion.
Why do you think it took so long to draw the outlines for the Henna?
because it is hard to do the out line because they could mess up the drawing.
What does the writer mean when he says “painstakingly begins to fill the outlines on Asli’s feet”?
the reader is telling us that they are trying it carefully so they could get a good finnish
What do they use when applying the Henna? For what purpose do they use this instead of a small stick?
Because it say that they use the plastic bag because it is more and more faster.

What does Asli have to do after the Henna has been applied to her skin?
she has to keep her feet still and her arms in the ari.
Henna has an ‘earthy’ smell, describe what you think this smells like?
i think it smells bad because it sounds bad.
Baby oil is rubbed into the skin after the Henna has been applied, for what reason do you think they do this?
i think that they use the oil so the tattoo could look shiny.  
How did Asli’s school friends previously react when she last had Henna?
if asli were still living somalia, some relative friend who was highly skilled in the technique,  
How was Asli’s sister having fun? Is this different to the type of fun you have. How does your activity of fun and Asli’s sisters differ?
asli’s sister has used the remaining henna to draw a crazy pattern of lines all over one hand.  

What is Henna?
it’s a small bush that grows in part of north africa and asia
Will the tradition of Henna continue?
in some places, henna decoration has become a thriving business, and henna appointments are as common as haircuts

Henna is seen as being traditional, can you elaborate and find examples in the text of how it is traditional?
henna is a dramatic and beautiful from of decoration, and a new year celebration.
In what countries do they use Henna?
they use henna in somalia, north Africa, in the middle east and new Zealand
Do you think because Henna is used on the skin it is encouraging people to get Tattoo’s why / why not?
yes because i think it is a good thing to do.
Would you recommend henna to be used by men/ women or both? What is your reasoning for this?
i recommend that it is used for both because i think it is a good thing to use for both girl and boy.
Write a step by step set of instructions at to how Henna is applied.

henna is made out of mud, hair dye and tea. And then you mix them all up.
